The 2nd Biennial Exhibition of The American Tonalist Society was held this past week at the historic Salmagundi Club in New York City, Although I was unable to attend I did follow the events online. I was pleased to learn that my painting Winter Woods won the Patron’s Award!

I completed this painting in 2021 and except for a brief few weeks it’s been in my studio ever since. When I received the invitation last year to exhibit again at the Salmagundi Club, I knew that Winter Woods would be my submission.
As many readers of this blog know, the woods around and near my home in northeast Texas have been the primary motif of my work for over a decade. Although my way of painting them has changed over the years, they remain the source of my inspiration and a metaphor for the themes that most interest me in my work. So it was particularly gratifying to have this painting represent me at the show.
Many congratulations Deborah. It is such a beautiful work and marvellous to be so recognised as such.
