Clarksville, Texas is located in the northeast corner of Texas. It is a small town of about 3500 and the county seat of Red River County. This area is part of “The Piney Woods” and is characterized by large stands of pine, white oak, and hickory. It has a gently rolling terrain with fields and numerous creeks, ponds, streams and a mainly agricultural, rural character. With a distinct four season climate, and ready access to Nature, it is a perfect place to study landscape painting. Red River County is also home to Lennox Woods, one of the few remaining virgin southern hardwood forests in the Southeast.
