Introducing Private Lessons, the new online learning opportunity from The Landscape Atelier!
Who are Private Lessons For?
Private Lessons are for artists who have at least two years of experience working in oils and want to work one on one with me for four weeks to improve specific areas of their landscape painting skills.
Private Lessons are for artists who have taken at least one online class with me. This enables you to have a clear idea of my teaching philosophy and methods. It also enables me to better assess your skill level and needs so that I can design the best program for you.
Private Lessons include:
- Individual private lesson plan
- Weekly painting assignments designed to build technical skills and teach concepts
- Four weekly 30 minute Zoom video conferences for critique and discussion of work produced the previous week
- Photoshop edits to your work as appropriate
- Written content and video demos as needed
How Private Lessons Works
After registration, I will email you a brief form to fill out and return to me via email. You should also send me three images of your current landscape work (or a link to a website where I can view them). I will use this information to create your lesson plan. I will also give you the available dates for your four weeks of private lessons, and we will agree on the start date. Please Note: once started, this program must be completed in four consecutive weeks, so you should take that into account when scheduling.
We will also schedule our four Zoom Video conferences. Zoom is easy and free for you to use. I will give you written instructions on how to connect to the meeting. Our Zoom meetings will be available for you to view and download to your own computer.
You will receive each week’s lesson plan via email, along with links to video demos, and written material in the form of a PDF that you can print out.
You will email your images to me for review at least one full day prior to our scheduled Zoom conferences. You will need to be able to take good quality photos of your work (straight on and with accurate value and color).
At each Zoom conference we will discuss your work from the prior week and you will be able to see your work and the edited version on the screen and other examples that will help you understand the lesson.
What You Need to be Able to Participate
You will need a computer, laptop or tablet with a wifi or hot spot connection to the internet. A cell phone is ok but you won’t be able to see the examples on the screen very well so I don’t recommend using it for Zoom conferences.
You will need a cell phone or camera that takes good photos of your work (straight on and with accurate color and value) and you will need to email those to me.
