Drawing- methods, materials, core skills, drawing from master copies, observational drawing
Values – modeling (turning form), atmospheric perspective, abstract design
Composition
Ongoing Memory Training and Exercises
Art History- the role of drawing as a preparatory practice and as a separate art form
Independent Study- in the final trimester students work toward creation of an independent body of work using the skills and understanding gained in the first two trimesters.

Painting- methods, techniques, materials – direct and indirect painting; advanced indirect painting techniques

19th Century American Landscape Painting
Early 19th Century European Landscape Painting – Constable, Corot, Barbizon Painters
Late 19th Century Russian Landscape Painting
Independent Study- in the final trimester the student works toward creation of an independent body of work using the skills and understanding gained during the program.
